A Volusia County man was captured Sunday night after appointees said he was gotten on video purposefully running over a canine.

Robert Joseph Kayat, 29, is accused of felony animal cruelty.

Video that the sheriff's office said demonstrates Kayat swerve at the dog before running it over was broadly shared throughout the end of the week via web-based networking media.

The canine's proprietor told representatives she learned around 7 p.m. Thursday that her canine, Thomas, had been discovered dead in favor of Treadway Road, west of New Smyrna Beach.

After the pooch was hit, representatives said the video indicates Kayat escape his truck, push the canine with his boot, kick the creature and afterward head out.

Kayat supposedly advised specialists he was attempting to just frighten the canine.

He was discharged on bond medium-term.
